Devotion of Choice
I am always looking for new ways to grow deeper in my faith and my relationship with Christ. When it comes to spending time with God, I believe everyone has to find what works best for them. Some people do that by sitting down and reading chapters from the Bible everyday. Others, may do that just by spending time in prayer. Everyone is different, what works for some people may not work for others. I find it best to use a devotional to guide my Scripture reading and challenge me to connect with our God.
I have a personal 365 day devotional book I like to read every morning and end my time by praying and talking with God. This brown leather book is entitled, Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence. The devotions included in the book are written from the perspective of Jesus speaking to the reader. There is one page for each day of the year, including February 29th. Each page contains a couple of paragraphs with devotions for that day and some Bible verses pertaining to that day's devotion.
I personally like this devotional book because while I am a woman of faith, I struggle at recalling the vast amount of lessons in the Bible. The thing that draws me to this devotional book is it refers to a passage, one per day and deciphers the message of the scripture. The devotions in the book are simple, but the simplicity increases the ability to really focus on the message without it being too much. Each page takes about a minute to read so this devotion would be great to read in the morning while enjoying a cup of coffee.
